This Week’s High/Low

You ever get stuck in a style rut? Your sitting at home looking around thinking, yeah this looks good, but I’m not really excited about it. For me, my environment really affects my mood. So, when my surroundings are just blah…that’s exactly how I will feel. Well that’s not really a feeling anyone strives for right? Right!

So the challenge- to infuse my own dining and living rooms with some sex appeal. Yes…
you heard that right, I want to make these rooms more sexy.
During my obsessive internet browsing sessions I noticed something. Everything I want is expensive. So knowing my budget for this “infusion” was limited, I did what I do best…and started hunting for the bargains! Here are some of the best high and low options I have stumbled upon so far that scream sexy:
The rich color, gorgeous slub texture, and stunning legs make this chair so opulent. Not to mention that adorable matching handle on the back, giving this modern chair the classic touch it needs to blend with any design style.

At over $100 less than the above chair, this Overstock.com find is a clear choice! In a variety of color choices, all with a more antiqued gold finish on the legs and handle- these are an amazing copycat for the price!

Pottery Barn continues to satisfy when it comes to quality and these curtains are no different. Heavyweight and luxurious, velvet curtains add so much drama- yet feel light and airy when done in a white or ivory.

You can not beat the price PER PAIR on these! Also available in a gorgeous light grey, and a variety of lengths to fit every window! *Designer tip- hang curtains right under crown molding, as high as you can o the wall to make your ceiling feel taller! And remember, you want the curtain to hit or puddle on the floor for the best look, so size appropriately!

I have had my eye on this darn thing for so long…. the gold, the shape, really everything about this bookcase says sexy to me!

I found many versions of this, but this one from Wayfair seems to have the most good reviews. Always read the reviews! They are so helpful when it comes to quality and sizing questions!

In my experience, with a little bit of digging, and a lot of patience- researching can save you hundreds! Ask me how I can help!

Fresh Picks – Top 5 Sherwin-Williams Paints On Sale!

When we first moved into our farmhouse, I knew it was going to need some paint. I have found one of the most trans-formative things you can do in a house is give it a fresh coat. And, in the big scheme of things, it’s also one of the cheapest- if you don’t mind doing it yourself that is. Although I can’t stand painting (because it’s messy and I get sweaty and what the F now I got a bruise on my hand from the cup handle and shit did I mention the fact that somehow it always ends up in my hair?), I also like to save money. I take that back, I like to save money so I can do other stuff to the house. Not really save it- but I’m working on that.

With that in mind, I just NEED to tell you that starting tomorrow, Friday April 20th, Sherwin-Williams is having a HUGE 40% off paints and stains sale!!!!!! They only do this a few times a year, so if you were even thinking of painting, DO IT NOW. I love a bargain, and getting top quality paint at a big box store price is something to get excited about!

Check out my top 5 Fresh Picks for a natural, easy to decorate room!

Hobby Lobby Curtain Sale!

Let’s me start by saying 1. I have about 30 windows to dress in the old farmhouse and 2. Even though we have like no neighbors I insist on having something over every window because I am secretly afraid of the dark and think someone/something is looking into my house at night because its like a fishbowl and I just don’t like it ok?

Now that we have that out of the way, I have to let you know that HOBBY LOBBY HAS CURTAINS AND THIS WEEK THEY ARE ON SALE!

Yes, I meant that to be all in caps, and yes I am overly excited because I have been waiting like a month for this! I very recently found the tiny ass curtain section at my local Hobby Lobby and even though they only carry 2 panels (yeah that’s enough for maybe 1 window….come on Hobby Lobby you can do better than that!), the panels they DO carry are freaken amazing! Looking for trendy burlap and ruffles? YES they have that. Looking for a range of sizes from 84-108 inches? YES they have that too. Looking for awesome prices even when not on sale? YESSSSSS MA’AM they have that too!

Now don’t expect to go to your local store and find everything you need- you won’t. This is why I had to share this with you, my friends, today because it’s rare and like a unicorn….TODAY not only are curtains 50% off there normally awesome prices, today you can get FREE SHIPPING when you spend $59 or more! And come on, let’s be real, you know you’re doing to spend more than that anyways, so why not buy online and get exactly what you need in exactly the right quantity?!

That said, I encourage you to head on over to Hobby Lobby’s site and go hog wild! Check out my top picks below!

Fresh Picks – Top 5 Farmhouse Chandeliers

I love all kinds and styles of lighting. From space age chic to French country vintage- and everything in-between. In some cases, the style of the space guides you, but in most cases it’s the unexpected that turns the most heads. Fitting an ultramodern chandelier in the formal dining room of an ancient Victorian may not be the choice for everyone, but it’s sure to start conversations and add interest to even the dullest of spaces.

In my case- I am staying true to form on this one- I mean it’s been called Fuller Farm for like 200 years so who am I to mess with that? And although it may seem like I’m at an advantage with everything “farm” being “so hot right now”, I actually find it to be a burden on my creativity.  SO. The challenge here will be to create the farmhouse look, without it ending up looking like every isle at Hobby Lobby. (for the record… I LOVE Hob Lobs. Like love love. Like TARGET love. OK now that’s out of the way.)

All that said, here are my top picks for that “Farmhouse” look in chandeliers.

Bung

Kaiya 9-Light Candle-Style Chandelier – This one adds a touch of sparkle without the glitz and glam of a formal crystal chandelier. There is something soft and whimsical about the intertwining leaves and crystals which add an organic feel to an otherwise fancy fixture. Goes out of stock quickly so sign up for notifications!

Beam

Beamer 10-Light Candle-Style Chandelier – The gold, the wood, the delicate leaves… what’s there not to love! A standout piece, this comes in many different sizes to fit any size room.

Pala

Paladino 9-Light Candle-Style Chandelier – Available in antique white or French umber this one gives you a lot of bang for the buck- over-sized (always check the dimensions!) yet delicate, this antique looking fixture is totally on trend!

Wel

Welcher 8-Light Crystal Chandelier – For those who want some bling, but don’t want your space to feel overly formal- this ones for you! Delicate crystals mixed with a classic shape and touches of aged gold foliage create a fancy farmhouse feel.

Add

Addington 6-Light Candle Style Chandelier- This petite beauty mixes a classic empire shape with unique wood beading to create a casually elegant fixture that works even outside the dining room!

Hope you love these picks as much as I do. Check back for more top picks and to see how I use them to refresh the Fuller Farm House!

The Next House

11 Months. I’ve been hibernating longer than any normal person should. I’m kidding. There is no way I was sleeping that whole time with a fire haired toddler running amok. Did you miss me? Good. Me too.

So, let’s get right down to then shall we? In the past 11 months, I’ve changed jobs, planned a birthday party, cancelled said birthday party, sold a house, moved, bought a house, moved again, and now here we are. Where are we you ask? Well this little lady moved to the country! That’s right- I literally have cows as my new neighbors and I’m totally cool with it. The reason I’m cool with it is because tucked away in this country pasture was a beautiful old house waiting to be discovered by my family. This is my “the next house” and they call her the Fuller Farm (or Farmhouse as I like to refer to it cause the barn part of the farm is not ours, but I’m not opposed to having chickens and such… I’m just worried because I can barely keep plants alive…wait, how do I have a child…??).

Ain’t she pretty?!

I will get into the history of this place a little later- I myself need to do some digging (so excited for that!) For now- I wanted to introduce her, cause there is nothing I like better than a good makeover!

For those of you who don’t know me well, I will tell ya, I just love redoing my house…. Over and over until I get it right – sorry husband! In the past few years, I have learned what I love, what I don’t love, and what I think is “not horrible”. I’ve watched way too much HGTV, walked around Hobby Lobby for far too long, and lusted after every single thing I could monogram from Pottery Barn. But now is the time- it’s “the next house” and I must get it right, the first time (yeah, I’m rolling my eyes too, but doesn’t that sounds like such an awesome plan?). So, I invite you to join me as I tackle one room at a time through the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly… I mentioned that I’m doing this around a pre-teen toddler right?

Next House

Next house babe.

I’ve been saying this alot lately. Especially since coming to the realization that we can’t move for at least two more years- boo.

Let me back up. Our house is amazing. It’s a 1920’s craftsman set in the most beautiful neighborhood in my city. Close to everything, yet quiet and perfect for walks. It’s even full of straight up amazing people, who are pretty much the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life. I mean- we haven’t owned a snowblower in the 4 years we have lived here, yet every single winter morning our sidewalk is totally cleared…Magic? No. Like I said, the BEST people ever.

After having our daughter, we decided we really wanted her go to a better school district. So now, what I thought was our “forever home” was now our “for right now home”. And to add to my sadness, now  I am not allowed to change the paint color anymore (even for maybe the 4th time, but who’s counting really?).

So when I see something and say “next house”, I make a mental note about how much I love it and move on…well no, not really… Which is why I am writing this very post to remind myself when I’m out of paint jail.

Now, Sherwin-Williams makes some kick ass colors. Let’s just get that out of the way. And sometimes, you want some mood… you know… like the kinda mood that makes you want to have fancy people over, so you can serve your fancy wine, while listening to the the fancy Classical Dinner Party station on Pandora. That kinda mood.

Well hello Deep Forest Brown! I have never wanted to take a hike so badly in my life… or maybe just eat some dark chocolate instead?

Makes my moodiness seem downright elegant if you ask me! Next house? I think yes!
